One night, one very special night, the author David Tanzer Greenberg came to our school! The last time an author came, it was like, 30 years ago, when the last one came! We listened to him say out loud a couple of the poems he wrote. Then we wrote poems of our own. They weren't poems that rhymed. They were poems that in one, it had the same sound. Here's a few of our own:
1. Nolan, the Nigerian gnat, knows next-to-nothing about neanderthals nibbling nebulae.
2. Cameron, the crabby crocodile, can careen cryptically on the Caribbean.
3. Brenden, the boiled banshee, bunts a ball into a bucket.
4.Ethan, the embodied edchidna, eats eggs on everything.
We also got a few books from David, to be autographed.

There was a lot of others, but these are samples. Just wait for the next post! |
How exciting to have a real, live author come for a visit! Did you talk to him about your own writing or ask him any questions? I love you poems--very creative and fun!
